Someone asked about experiencing joy, giggling, laughter, and deep peace while praying in the Spirit. She also asked whether someone can have more than one tongue, and why their tongues sometimes sound like those of Chinese or Japanese speakers, including clicking sounds, although not every day.
This is what I refer to as the stage of rest. This level is not just for seasoned believers who pray in tongues. Some people already had a deep walk with God before receiving the gift of tongues. When they begin praying in tongues, they quickly enter into encounters, visions, and deep experiences because they are already spiritually mature.
In the stage of rest, the purpose is communion and fellowship with God. It is a time of joy, peace, and exploration of deeper things in Him.
So yes, experiencing joy and peace while praying in the Spirit is normal at this stage.
Regarding multiple tongues, it is the Holy Spirit who leads you to speak. He has access to every language, whether human or angelic, and He distributes according to your faith level and your assignment.
If you are called to evangelism, the tongues may sharpen you in ways connected to communication. If you are called to spiritual warfare, they may sound more forceful and commanding.
The Holy Spirit can shift the way you pray depending on what is needed at that time, be it intercession, warfare, worship, or something else.
When it sounds like a specific earthly language, it may relate to an area of intercession or assignment connected to that people group.
During intercession, the Holy Spirit may identify you with the people you are praying for by leading you to pray in a way connected to them. It does not happen every day because the Holy Spirit does not always focus on the same assignment in every prayer session.
In the early stages of rest, you may experience joy and peace some days and not others. That is because you are still becoming established in that stage.
As you mature spiritually, you learn how to enter into that place of rest more consistently. With experience, the peace and joy become more accessible because you understand how to yield fully.
