Praying in Tongues is Therapy from God Himself

In this article, I will explain how praying in tongues is the best form of therapy given to us by God Himself.

Our lives are guaranteed to have problems just as described in the Book of Job 14:1 that states,” Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.”

The challenges we face are not necessarily a result of bad decisions. Sometimes it is simply a matter of circumstances. For instance, every place on earth has its own set of problems that are beyond our control yet we don’t get to choose where we are born.

Although we may have come from families that were broken, or countries with issues, or schools lacking Godly principles, our lives often require therapy or recovery at some point.

God understands this and has provided a form of therapy through the gift of speaking in tongues to help restore us to a good state.

Remember, we are all born with the original sin that makes us more inclined to fulfilling the desires of our flesh. In the book of Psalms, King David acknowledges the corrupt nature of human beings.

Indeed, I was born guilty, a sinner when my mother conceived me.

Psalms 51:5

This inclination towards ungodly behavior must be addressed to allow us to enjoy the fullness of God in our lives.

The most effective form of therapy for believers is praying in tongues. This allows the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, even without us knowing what needs to be fixed.

With the normal therapy sessions, therapists ask questions to understand the issues before attempting to fix them. However, with the Holy Spirit, there is no need for this process as He already knows what is broken and how to fix it.

I am not simply stating this just because I pray in tongues. I have undergone an experience that has convinced me that praying in tongues is indeed therapeutic.

During my time in university, despite appearing successful on the surface with good grades, financial stability, and a leadership role in a Christian club, I felt a deep sense of emptiness within me.

For a while I tried to hide it because I didn’t know what was going on with me. Even if I were to confide in someone, I did not know how to articulate what I was going through. It was an odd feeling that was difficult to put into words.

I then decided to seek guidance from the university therapist who I soon discovered was a pastor. The first challenge I faced was explaining my problem. No matter how hard I tried to express how I felt, it still seemed as though I was completely fine.

Even my outward demeanor suggested that all was well. The therapist at some point thought I was fooling around but I was struggling and somehow, she couldn’t see it.

The therapist gave me some of the common diagnosis often given to a majority of people with issues similar to mine. However, I was already familiar with the prognosis she mentioned, and I knew they were not applicable to me.

Realizing that she was not grasping the true nature of my concerns, I reluctantly accepted her diagnosis and left the therapy room. Although I was scheduled for another appointment, that was my first and last visit.

After the session, I found myself pondering what to do next because my problem still persisted. As the situation grew increasingly serious, I made the decision to turn to prayer, specifically praying in tongues.

It was during this time of prayer that the Lord began to reveal to me the root cause of my restlessness. It was a void created by God, calling me to enter into ministry.

Following this revelation, I began teaching and writing about praying in tongues; and just like that, the emptiness and void within me vanished completely.

It was on that day that I realized praying in tongues achieved for me what therapy could not. Yet, when I prayed in tongues, the Lord addressed my concerns. Since then, I have come to believe that praying in tongues is the most effective form of therapy.

Whenever I encounter challenges that I cannot articulate to others, not even my closest friends, I turn to praying in tongues. Many times, when I share my issues with them, they find it puzzling because to them, my problems seem trivial.

However, every time I pray in tongues, the Lord provides me with guidance and gives me the peace I seek. Therefore, I firmly believe that praying in tongues is the most effective therapy.

Even if you are unsure where to start or what is wrong, trust that God will provide guidance. Personally, I had to take a break from school to focus solely on praying in tongues and during that time, the Lord revealed the necessary steps for me to find peace.

If you find yourself overwhelmed with various issues in life, unable to pinpoint the exact problem, I encourage you to turn to God and pray in tongues. Simply ask the Holy Spirit to intervene and express your concerns to God. Blessings!
