Step by Step Guide to Having an Encounter with God

I was skeptical about sharing this revelation, but I decided to share it anyway. I know people need it, except that they don’t know they need it. For that reason, they don’t look for it. If you consider yourself a serious believer, this revelation is a must-have.

Think of this: you’ve been fascinated with the idea of having an encounter with God for a long time. You’ve even hoped to have an encounter yourself, but you just don’t know where to begin. You’ve watched many testimonies of believers who had encounters, hoping to have similar encounters, but somehow you can’t figure out what to do.

If this resonates with you, you are exactly the person I had in mind when writing this article. I was also once in your position, wondering what exactly someone needs to do to have an encounter with God. But by the grace of God, I got a revelation that changed everything for me.

This revelation will take you from not knowing what to do to have an encounter with God to knowing every step you need to take to have an encounter with God.

I’ll make the explanation as simple as possible so that it is easy for you to follow and implement.

Let’s get started!

The Mistake of Many Believers

Let me start by outlining the mistake that many believers make when they want to have an encounter with the Lord. This is important because you need to avoid this mistake to have a chance of encountering God.

Many believers either believe that having an encounter with God is unnecessary or believe that they cannot willfully initiate an encounter with God. For those who believe that having an encounter with God is unnecessary, they never desire it, which, of course, means they can’t have an encounter.

The others who believe they cannot willfully initiate an encounter with God never try. And as you would expect, they never have any encounters.

The few who believe that having encounters with God is necessary and that they can willfully initiate encounters with God make the mistake of praying and hoping for the best without a clear approach.

The truth of the matter is that having an encounter with God is not random. Every detail of those encounters is intentionally designed. The more you understand the design of those encounters, the easier it will be for you to initiate those encounters.

The revelation I have for you will help you understand the design of those encounters. With that understanding, it will be very easy for you to initiate encounters with God.

Solution Context

Before I walk you through the revelation, let me start by sharing a few scriptures. These scriptures are very important in helping you believe the revelation I will share with you.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

This is a common scripture that outlines how we should approach God. Given that encounters involve approaching God, understanding this scripture is very important. Let’s focus on two more scriptures, then I’ll explain everything.

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

This is one of the beatitudes that Jesus taught. In this specific beatitude, Jesus mentioned a key point. I’ll come to it shortly.

Here is the last scripture I want you to pay attention to.

John 17:24

“Father, I desire that they also, whom You gave Me, may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Are you amazed at the depth of this scripture? Wait until I show you…

The Revelation

Building your faith in God

When you want to have an encounter, the first thing you need to do is to build your faith in God. Here is how you do it…

Read Bible stories where God did powerful and miraculous deeds. When you read such scriptures, they will paint a picture in your mind of how powerful and majestic God is.

With this picture in mind, you will be in a good position to approach God.

Why is that the case? You may ask.

Hebrews 11:6 tells us of the condition everyone must meet before entering God’s holy presence: you must believe that He is God.

In simple terms, you are required to have the fear of the Lord for you to appear before God, and the easiest way to gain this holy fear is to read about the wondrous deeds God has done.

I hope this first step to having encounters with the Lord is clear. I don’t want to leave you behind…

Repentance

The second thing you need to do when you want to have encounters with God is to sanctify your heart. This is not anything complex.

Start by repenting for the wrongs you are aware of. Then, ask the Lord to reveal to you other wrongs you have no idea about. Repent of those other wrongs as well. Lastly, ask the Lord to search your heart and remove from you anything that causes defilement.

This is important because when you are having an encounter with God, you will share your deepest heart feelings with Him. If your heart is not pure, you won’t be allowed to share anything with God, which also means no encounter for you.

This is what Matthew 5:8 means in simple terms.

I hope we are together up to that point?

Agreeing with Christ

The last thing you need to do if you want to have an encounter with God is to agree with Christ. Don’t worry, I’ll explain…

John 17:24 highlights the deep desire that Christ has. It tells us that Christ desires that we see the glory that the Father has given Him.

Every encounter you have is basically a tour of heaven to see the glory that the Father has bestowed upon Christ. This means that as you pray to have an encounter, make sure to acknowledge that your request is in line with the desire of Christ. Say, “Lord, let me see the glory that the Father has bestowed upon you, just as you have desired.”

Even though I’ve done my best to share this revelation, there are more details that I have left out to avoid making this piece too long. If you are interested in the deeper details of this revelation, feel free to book a free Google Meet Session with me.
