The Best-Kept Secret That Will Make You Pray in Tongues For At Least 1 Hour Every Day

Many times, believers are encouraged to pray in tongues for at least one hour daily. This is a good thing, but it is not easy.

I have witnessed many praying in tongues believers who struggle to pray in tongues for 1 hour daily. Some can comfortably pray in tongues for 1 hour, but they struggle to do it daily. Others can’t even pray in tongues for an hour straight, let alone doing it daily.

In this article, I’m sharing a secret I learned when I was struggling to build consistency in praying in tongues. This was arguably the most important discovery that made it possible for me to pray in tongues for 1 hour daily.

The benefits that came with it were tremendous. We’ll talk about them some other time.

Ready to learn the secret that will make you pray in tongues for at least 1 hour every day? Let’s get started…

The Mistake of Many Praying in Tongues Believers…

Let me start by highlighting a very common error that many praying in tongues believers make. I also used to make this mistake, and because of it, I couldn’t pray in tongues for 1 hour consistently.

Many tongues-speaking believers perceive praying in tongues as a tool to fix their problems. The truth of the matter is that praying in tongues comes with many benefits, including fixing people’s problems.

However, if you want to pray in tongues consistently, you have to perceive praying in tongues differently. Problem-based praying in tongues is short-lived.

As soon as the problem is solved, the urge to pray in tongues disappears. Sometimes, the problem itself is discouraging, which also discourages you from praying in tongues.

Solution Context

Before I share the secret, let me give you some context.

I received the gift of praying in tongues while attending a fellowship where almost every member was praying in tongues. It was very common for people to pray in tongues for hours in that fellowship.

With that setting, you would understand why they would require believers who were newly baptized in the gift to pray in tongues for at least one hour a day.

While the reason for asking believers who were new to praying in tongues to pray in tongues for at least 1 hour per day was good, it came with unintended consequences.

Some members in the fellowship felt that the leaders should not dictate how long people need to pray in tongues. At the same time, others argued that setting a minimum time of praying in tongues was a good way to encourage discipline in the gift, which would result in many spiritual benefits.

It was in the midst of that environment that I began seeking to pray in tongues for extended periods. On one hand, I felt the Holy Spirit should decide for me how long I was to pray. But on the other hand, I felt it would be good for me to set the amount of time I wanted to spend in prayer.

Eventually, I asked the Holy Spirit what His opinion was about the matter. That is when He revealed to me the secret I am sharing with you today.

The Revelation

The Holy Spirit revealed to me that God loves honesty. In His explanation, He helped me understand that when someone is honest, God is willing to speak to them. But if someone is dishonest, God remains silent.

He also helped me understand that this is part of the reason why God demands that people should confess their sins to Him for forgiveness.

All these made sense. I could see how it aligned with some of the common scriptures I knew.

One of such scriptures is 1st John 1:9, which says…

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Another such scripture is Proverbs 28:13, which says…

He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

But I was left wondering, what does this have to do with praying in tongues consistently for at least 1 hour every day?

That’s when the Holy Spirit explained to me further. He said honest believers get to enjoy deeper intimacy with God. And with deeper intimacy comes a natural desire to spend more time with God.

Because of that natural desire, praying in tongues becomes sweet and attractive. This means that someone can pray in tongues daily and still have a desire to pray even more.

This left me with one big question: how can someone increase their honesty before God?

Well, it starts with confessing your wrongdoings. You see, many believers unknowingly hide their bad attitudes and negative mindsets from God.

They do that because they think God only wants to hear good things from them. But they forget that by doing so, the Lord sees them as dishonest and He distances Himself from them.

After confessing your sins, express your deepest desires to God without fear. This is another area where many believers are dishonest with God.

When you express your honest desires to God, even if the desires are not perfectly aligned with God’s will, because of your honesty, God will speak to you.

He will point out the flaws in your desires if there are any. But if the desires are aligned with God’s will, He will grant them to you.

Lastly, tell God exactly how you feel about Him. Don’t shy away from letting God know your true feelings towards Him, whether positive or negative. Your honesty will initiate a conversation between you and God, and through that conversation, the Lord will correct you if necessary.

I hope this is helpful. God bless you!
