The revelation I’m going to share with you here will make you believe your tongues are real, no matter how much doubt you have.
Many praying-in-tongues believers doubt their tongues every now and then. The doubt is caused by many factors. Some doubt because their tongues sound strange. Others doubt because no one prayed for them to receive the gift of praying in tongues. Others doubt because they don’t experience any spiritual power when praying.
Today, all those doubts must end. Doubt comes from knowledge, and so does faith. The knowledge I’ll share with you here will build your faith and dispel all doubt.
I have walked this journey of doubting tongues. I understand what it means to pray in tongues, yet still have endless questions in mind about whether the tongues you are speaking are truly from the Holy Spirit.
I pushed through that difficult stage early on in my praying in tongues journey. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I overcame the doubt. Today, I have countless testimonies from speaking in tongues.
It is out of that experience that I’m sharing this knowledge with you today. Has the Bible not commanded us to gain knowledge and understanding?
Well, here is your opportunity.
Let’s dive in…
The Doubt Challenge
Before I tell you the revelation that will make you believe your tongues are real, let me start by addressing the doubt problem.
Praying in tongues is a gift from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is invisible; we can neither see Him nor touch Him. This means the only way we can relate with the Holy Spirit is through faith.
But as you know, where there is faith, doubt will also be there. If you have a hard time believing in the Holy Spirit, you will definitely have a hard time believing in praying in tongues, which is a gift from the Holy Spirit.
If we extend it further, doubting the Holy Spirit begins when you fail to remember that He is the promise of Jesus Christ. Just before Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised that the Father would send a helper.
Praying in tongues is basically part of the help we receive from the Holy Spirit, as He helps us to pray.
To tackle the doubt problem when praying in tongues, you have to backtrack many steps to where the promise was first made.
This brings me to the next important thing in helping you believe your tongues are real.
Scriptural Context
Let me highlight three powerful scriptures that will help you understand the revelation I’m about to share.
First scripture: Mark 11:24. The Bible says…
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
The second scripture, Numbers 14:28, says…
Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you
The last important scripture I want you to pay attention to is Esther 4:16. It says…
“Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
These three verses highlight a very important revelation for overcoming doubt when praying in tongues.
The Revelation
In Mark 11:24, Jesus told us to believe whatever we ask for in prayer, for us to receive it. That is simple and straightforward, right?
Well, some tongues-speaking believers are surprising. Why would you put in effort to ask for the gift of tongues only for you to doubt it when you receive it?
If you truly believed the gift exists to the point of asking for it, why would practicing it make you doubt it?
Well, even if we were to excuse that, Numbers 14:28 gives us further clarification. The Lord Himself has made it very clear that He does to us exactly what He hears us speaking.
What you speak is within your control. Why would you choose to speak doubt in your gift of tongues when you can speak faith?
If you speak doubt, don’t expect to end up believing that the tongues you speak are real. If you choose to speak faith despite your experience tempting you to doubt, the Lord will make sure you thrive in the gift of tongues according to your faith.
If this isn’t convincing to you yet, maybe the point in Esther 4:16 will convince you. In that verse, Esther gives up everything and decides to do something so scary that she thought she might die for it.
Esther went before the King against the law, and by the mercies of God, she did not only survive but she saved a whole nation.
That is a classic example of faith.
Now, ask yourself, if a lady, a queen for that matter, is willing to take such a dangerous step because she believed in God, do you mean you can’t utter syllables that feel odd to you?
What scares you?
Take some risk and utter those strange syllables. See what happens. It is an action you can consciously take. It won’t kill you, I assure you.
Do it long enough and boldly enough, and the Lord will call that faith. Then He will add you His power to make the tongues flow a lot more smoothly.
But if you never start, you’ll never grow because God will see you as a faithless person. Do you want God to see you as a faithless person?
The choice is yours. As for me, I chose to push myself to pray in tongues when it felt dry and forced. But today, I enjoy praying in tongues more than anything else.
I’m even here teaching you and leading you as an example in exercising the gift of tongues. I hope these teachings and the praying-in-tongues sessions on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@menmustpray will help you grow and thrive in this gift.
