Ways to gain motivation in the spirit to pray in tongues

When you understand how to gain motivation in the spirit, you will never struggle to pray in tongues again. Everyone needs motivation to pray in tongues, but not everyone knows how to get it.

Many believers set prayer schedules, but when it’s time to pray, they fail to do so because they lack motivation. Today, I’m going to share with you three ways you can rely on to gain motivation to pray in tongues.

I’ve been praying in tongues for over 10 years. In those years, I’ve experienced difficult praying in tongues sessions where I didn’t have any motivation whatsoever. It was only by the help of the Holy Spirit that I managed to pray.

With careful study, I came to learn how the Holy Spirit motivates us to pray. Once you know how the Holy Spirit motivates us to pray, it will be easy for you to align yourself to receive the motivation.

Ready to learn? Here we go…

1. Strengthening by Angels

Did you know that there are angels whose responsibility is to strengthen human beings? Yes, when God wants to strengthen someone, He sends the strengthening angels.

A good example is Luke 22:41-43. This is what the Bible says…

And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

In the verse, Jesus was praying in great distress. Being in human form, He felt the discouragement that comes with difficult situations.

God was silent. His disciples were asleep. It was in the middle of the night, in a garden. It must have been cold.

Those are definitely not the sweetest conditions for prayer. But Jesus had no choice but to pray.

In that moment, Jesus needed great motivation to pray. That is when the angel showed up.

The angel came because Jesus was the Son of God and had a right to receive ministration from angels who are servants of God. Because Jesus opened the door for us to become children of God, we also have a right to receive ministration from angels in times of need.

Struggling to pray is a difficult problem that warrants ministering angels to step in.

God, in His wisdom, will usually send the ministering angels to minister to us when we need their assistance. However, you won’t be punished if you ask the Lord to send ministering angels to help you get motivation to pray when you are struggling.

Isn’t that their work anyway?

2. Good Report from the Lord

When you receive bad reports, they really discourage you from praying. Your motivation goes down, and prayer feels like climbing a mountain.

But the Lord can always send you a good report to revive your spirit and motivate you to pray.

A good example is from the book of Judges 7:13-15. The Bible says…

And when Gideon had come, there was a man telling a dream to his companion. He said, “I have had a dream: To my surprise, a loaf of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian; it came to a tent and struck it so that it fell and overturned, and the tent collapsed.”

Then his companion answered and said, “This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel! Into his hand God has delivered Midian and the whole camp.”

And so it was, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel, and said, “Arise, for the Lord has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.”

The Lord had commanded Gideon to go up in battle against the Midianites. However, Gideon was terrified because the odds were against him.

After a number of miracles, Gideon was starting to gain some strength, but still, he didn’t look like a soldier ready to fight.

That is when the Lord caused this incident, where Gideon overheard the conversation between the two Midianites. That proved to be the turning point from fear to boldness for Gideon.

In a similar fashion, when you embark on praying, it is a battle. Powers of darkness threaten you and throw all manner of discouragement at you.

If you are not careful, the threats and discouragement can overwhelm you.

It is in such circumstances that you need to ask the Lord to give you a good report. There is always a good report, no matter how bad your situation may seem.

When the Lord brings to you the good report, it comes with great joy that outshines the discouragement. That way, you get the strength to pray in tongues.

3. Fire from the Holy Spirit

Have you ever gone to pray in tongues and felt so charged up as if you had scores to settle? That is exactly how the fire of the Holy Spirit feels.

When you read the book of Acts 2:3-4, this is what the Bible says…

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This is a fairly common scripture about praying in tongues.

When the disciples gathered in the upper room, they were afraid. You can be sure they had a difficult time finding words to pray. The situation at hand was overwhelming.

But then the Holy Spirit came upon them with His mighty fire. All of a sudden, the fear they had completely vanished.

They began praying in tongues so loud that the people outside could hear them. After that, they spoke boldly about Christ Jesus to the people who had gathered.

When you go to pray in tongues and you have no motivation, ask the Holy Spirit to give you His fire. When you receive His fire, no matter how discouraged you were, you will burst out in tongues like never before.
