While praying in tongues, sometimes you feel as if the tongues are dry and you may be tempted to give up along the way. What if I told you that those dry tongues actually carry a lot of weight and are responsible for many miracles and breakthroughs?
Let’s briefly look at the story of the Syrian siege and the four lepers as illustrated in the book of 2nd Kings chapter 7.
Starvation plagued Samaria, the capital city of the kingdom of Israel following a siege by the Syrian army against Samaria. Prophet Elisha prophesied that God would finally bring deliverance to the city and save His people. The prophecy was fulfilled the next day when four men with leprosy tried to surrender themselves at the Syrian camp.
“If we say, we will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.”
2 Kings 7:4
To their surprise, When the lepers arrived at the camp, they found it deserted with nobody in sight. God had miraculously caused the Syrian army to retreat by causing them to hear noises of a great army approaching.
The Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of Chariots and the noise of horses the noise of a great Army so they said to one another look the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us therefore they arose and fled at Twilight and left the camp intact their tents their horses their donkeys and they fled for their lives
2 Kings 7: 6-7
During Israel’s distress due to the Syrian siege, God used four lepers to bring about salvation. You heard that right; not a great army, but four lepers to deliver Israel.
Unknown to the lepers, their footsteps sounded like a great army to the Syrians who got terrified to a point of running away. This brought about the salvation that Israel had been waiting for.
Similarly, when your tongues feel dry and discouragement comes upon you, those very tongues are the ones that God will use to bring salvation to your life. This is because the tongues that you speak in weakness are sincere and have no pride.
Therefore, whenever you experience dry tongues and discouragement while praying, continue to push through, as those tongues have the power to bring about your miracle.
Blessings!
