After 2 hours of Intense Praying in Tongues, The Holy Spirit Surprised Me

On Monday, December 1st, I prayed in tongues for 2 hours straight and got a surprise from the Holy Spirit.

I do 2-hour praying in tongues sessions every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Many times, the Lord gives me revelations, but I never share them.

In this article, I will be sharing with you the revelation I received during that particular prayer session.

Aside from the revelation, I will also teach you a few lessons to encourage you to pray in tongues to get revelations yourself.

Ready to learn? Let’s dive in…

Preparation for the Session

It’s important that I start by telling you how I prepared for the session. How you prepare for a praying in tongues session determines a lot about how the session turns out.

My standard approach for these 2-hour praying in tongues sessions is to take a fast. That day was no different.

I did a water only fast from morning to evening. Since the 2-hour praying in tongues session was scheduled for 6 pm, I planned to eat only after the session was over.

Besides the fast, I spent an hour praying in tongues during the day. I did that to cultivate a prayer atmosphere so that I wouldn’t have to start from scratch during the 2-hour praying in tongues session.

I should have set a goal for the 2-hour praying in tongues session, but I didn’t. Later on, it proved to be a bad decision, as you will shortly see.

The last thing I did as part of preparation was to take a nap. I’ve always struggled with feeling sleepy during long sessions of praying in tongues. I mitigate that by taking a nap shortly before the session.

With all preparations done, it was time for the prayer session to begin.

Session Execution

The session started with sweet flowing tongues. This was the case because I had warmed up in the spirit with an hour of praying in tongues during the day.

However, I had a challenge. My mind was unsettled. I also had a lot of physical discomfort. This was happening because I had not found a comfortable sitting position.

This may seem like a petty issue, but if you are not physically comfortable, it becomes hard to focus in the spirit.

To make matters worse, I didn’t have a clear goal to focus on. When you have a clear goal when praying in tongues, it becomes easier to focus in the spirit and stop your mind from wandering.

The chaos I was experiencing quickly affected the flow of my tongues. They became dry, and I lost the initial flow I had.

20 minutes into the session, I was barely settled. At that point, I knew I needed to get the situation under control.

The first thing I did was to close my eyes. With my eyes closed, I eliminated all shiny objects that could affect my focus.

The second thing I did was to come up with something to focus on. That was desiring Jesus.

Basically, anytime I lost focus, I would say, “I desire you Jesus” to get my mind back on track. While saying that, I would do my best to picture Jesus in my mind.

The last thing I did was to add physical emphasis to my tongues. In simple terms, I would move my hands to emphasize the tongues I was speaking.

Now that I had a clear plan, the only thing left was to stay consistent until I get the flow in the spirit.

Sure enough, I started feeling lighter shortly after I began executing the plan. It was definitely working.

However, I was also getting tired quickly. The intensity of the physical motion was draining me fast.

After 20 minutes of intense focus, I couldn’t continue anymore. I was physically and emotionally exhausted.

I toned down the intensity, but at least I had some flow.

I was only 40 minutes into the praying in tongues session, but I was already exhausted with little to show for it.

But just when I thought all was lost, the Holy Spirit had other plans.

The Revelation

Being very tired, I was speaking very soft tongues. Without knowing it, my mind went blank. I couldn’t tell what was on my mind.

For about 10 minutes, I could neither think of anything nor remember anything. I only realized this had happened after I came back to my senses.

When I woke up from the mental blackout, I suddenly had a business idea on my mind. This was something I had never thought about.

It was so amusing to me. I couldn’t help but smile in the middle of praying.

What made it even more interesting was the fact that I wasn’t seeking to start any business. It was the most random thing I could have experienced.

Also, were it a revelation about spiritual matters, that would make sense. But it was a plain business idea with no spiritual inclination whatsoever.

The idea was about a platform where car owners can exchange their cars with other car owners for a short period.

It doesn’t feel like a fancy idea. Also, it is vague. But it served an important purpose.

You see, the excitement I got from the revelation, took away all the sorrow and fatigue I was experiencing. That revelation refreshed me more than I expected.

My effort to pray in tongues had yielded something, and that was very encouraging to me.

From that point onwards, I enjoyed so much peace and joy for the remaining full hour of praying in tongues.

Biggest Lesson Learned

This experience taught me a number of things;

One, I learned that your worst praying in tongues session could turn to the best praying in tongues session in a flash. Never stop praying in tongues just because the session feels dry and chaotic.

Two, I learned that the Holy Spirit has unconventional ways of getting us breakthroughs in the spirit. After toiling to get a breakthrough in the spirit and getting none, the Holy Spirit did a simple thing that turned the whole experience around for me.

Lastly, I learned that the Holy Spirit can give you ideas in the middle of praying in tongues when you least expect. The idea the Holy Spirit gave me caught me completely off guard. Based on how I had struggled through the prayer session, I wasn’t expecting any revelation.

Therefore, always pray in tongues knowing that the Holy Spirit can surprise you at any time.

God bless you!
