During the initial stages of my journey in speaking in tongues, I noticed a stark difference between my ability to speak in tongues in church and at home. While in church, it came naturally, but when I was alone at home, I struggled.
This led me to ponder the reason behind this disparity. I decided to solely rely on church gatherings for speaking in tongues, but soon realized that this was not the best approach for a fulfilling prayer life. I embarked on a quest to uncover the secret behind the ease of speaking in tongues in church compared to my struggles at home.
After thorough research, I discovered that the key factor was the presence of God. The pastor at the church I was attending had the gift of cultivating a strong divine presence, making it easier for congregants to pray in tongues and have spiritual encounters.
In contrast, I lacked the knowledge of how to cultivate God’s presence in my private prayer space, leading to dry and difficult prayer sessions.
Determined to improve, I studied the pastor’s methods and implemented them in my personal prayer life. It took time and effort, but eventually, I was able to experience the same ease in speaking in tongues, making my prayer life more enriching and fulfilling.
In this article, I will share the discoveries I made regarding how to foster the presence of God in order to experience Him during personal prayer.
Cultivating God’s presence
When it comes to cultivating God’s presence while speaking in tongues, there are two key factors to consider: external and internal factors. I have come to understand that external factors play a significant role in experiencing breakthroughs, the peace of God, and divine encounters.
These external factors are primarily related to the time of day you choose to engage in speaking in tongues. I noticed a substantial difference in my experiences when speaking in tongues in the morning, during the day, in the evening, and at night – each time of day yielded distinct outcomes.
As a result, I sought to determine the optimal time for me to engage in speaking in tongues to achieve breakthroughs. I discovered that praying first thing in the morning made it easier for me to experience breakthroughs. Praying in tongues in the evening and at night also facilitated breakthroughs.
However, I encountered difficulties when praying during the day. This led me to question why I found it challenging to speak in tongues during the day unlike in the morning and at night.
I realized that daytime is filled with various activities, and the Holy Spirit revealed to me that sinful actions empower demons in the spiritual realm. Consequently, the frequency of defilement during the day strengthens dark forces hindering individuals from praying effectively.
The advice I give to believers who desire to pray in tongues and experience a breakthrough is to ensure they pray either at night or in the early morning.
It is crucial that during this time, most people are asleep or not engaged in their usual daily activities. By doing so, you will encounter less resistance in the spiritual realm compared to praying during the day.
Internal purity
The second factor that plays an important role in inviting God’s presence while speaking in Tongues is internal purity.
I came to realize that I must lead a life of utmost purity within myself. The Holy Spirit made it clear to me that God resides in purity. Therefore, when we pray and seek God’s presence, He will only come if our hearts are pure enough to welcome Him.
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.
Isaiah 59:1-2
According to the scripture above, living in sin will create a barrier for God to come close to you, causing Him to distance Himself due to the defilement.
Purity makes it easier for God to draw near to us. Living a pure life even before beginning to pray allows God to draw close, as He is naturally drawn to places of purity and holiness. This is evident in places like church altars, which consistently host God’s presence due to their purity.
By making your life an altar and striving to remain undefiled, you create a space for God to dwell. Jesus Christ simplified the concept of defilement by emphasizing that it stems from the heart and what we speak.
By filling your heart with God’s commands and His word, you will naturally speak words of life, such as peace, joy, and love. Maintaining a pure heart and speaking words of life eliminates defilement, as impurity often originates from our thoughts and speech.
By immersing yourself in God’s word, worship, and fellowship, you will find it easier to uphold a pure life and invite God’s presence.
Once you set ground for these two conditions – maintaining purity and selecting the appropriate time of day for prayer – the next step is to begin speaking in tongues. There is no secret formula to it; simply start speaking and you will experience a breakthrough effortlessly.
Playing worship songs
To enhance your spiritual experience during prayer, you can also play worship songs in the background. The benefit of playing worship songs is that you connect with the spiritual level of the singer, allowing you to tap into the power of the song.
You can as well play worship songs before speaking in tongues to attract God’s presence. I also discovered that by playing worship songs overnight, God’s presence is cultivated, making it easier to speak in tongues and experience breakthroughs.
Conclusion
These findings provide a simple method for you to begin accessing higher spiritual realms, even if you do not consider yourself very spiritually strong. As you continue this practice, you will discover that you are able to nurture God’s presence on your own.
You will also learn how to sustain God’s presence, allowing you to maintain fellowship with Him throughout your daily activities.
Eventually, you will reach a point where you can experience deep encounters of speaking in tongues during the day, as you grow spiritually strong enough to overcome any sinful distractions.
It is important to start with these initial steps to learn how to cultivate God’s presence, and you will find speaking in tongues to be a delightful and fulfilling experience.
