Why people do not receive the gift of healing
For the gift of healing to be effective, one must actively collaborate with the Holy Spirit. Sometimes believers pray for healing but fail to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, hindering the activation of the gift of healing in their lives.
You could be wondering how people fail to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. The reason is quite simple. When you pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit imparts knowledge and revelations to you.
Some people reject these revelations and as a result, the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives is hindered making them remain stuck at the same level.

More often, believers expect immediate results when praying for healing, but not everyone possesses the level of faith needed for instant healing. In such cases, the Lord may choose to lead you through a gradual healing process.
The challenge with gradual healing is the patience it demands. Many people become impatient and give up on praying in tongues, obstructing the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives.
Always maintain faith, resilience, and endurance while waiting on God for healing, as the Holy Spirit may be initiating a gradual healing process within you.
My healing story
In my personal experience, I received healing that I waited for a long time. When I was younger, I struggled with a severe speech impediment that hindered my ability to communicate effectively. Instead of making my speech eloquent, the Lord called me to teach and preach His word.
At the age of 13, while still attending school, I found myself in a position of leadership in my class, as the previous class pastor had stepped down and no one else was willing to preach.
Despite my initial struggles with speech, I continued to teach and preach for nearly six or seven years before noticing a significant improvement in my speech impediment. Although the process was lengthy, God encouraged me to preach His word, even as I struggled with my speech.
When trusting God for healing, sometimes enduring through pain is necessary. God often leads us through a gradual journey towards healing, and we need to maintain trust and faithfulness throughout this process.
This could explain why some believers who pray in tongues may not immediately receive the healing they seek. It may simply be a matter of time and God requiring them to take certain actions before receiving complete healing.
Healing is not the top priority
The third thing to take note of is that praying in tongues for healing is not always the primary focus of God’s plan for your life. While it is natural to desire physical healing, God’s primary concern is for your soul.
He will always prioritize the well-being of your soul before addressing physical healing. Therefore, if God has not yet secured your soul or if you have not fully placed your faith in Him, He may delay physical healing until these spiritual matters are addressed.
It is essential to trust in God’s timing and understand that healing may not always be the top priority in His plan for your life.
This is why, at times, when we seek healing through prayer, we may receive ambiguous responses from God, such as calls to worship, love, or commit ourselves to Him. For instance, whenever I prayed for healing from my speech impediment, the Lord consistently instructed me to preach His word.
I found this perplexing, as I believed eloquent speech was necessary for preaching. However, the Lord reassured me that having His word was sufficient. Ultimately, God remained faithful to His promise and removed my speech defect.
Therefore, when receiving instructions during prayer, particularly when praying in tongues and seeking healing, it is important to follow instructions from the Lord, regardless of how absurd or challenging they may seem.
Endurance is key, and in due time, God will visit you, and the healing will manifest. Blessings!
