I am certain that you have heard numerous times about the powerful nature of praying in tongues. While most acknowledgement focuses on the physical perspective, it is important to note that in the spiritual realm, the power of praying in tongues is perceived differently.
Spirits perceive power in a unique way, distinct from how humans perceive it. Praying in tongues may seem like mere words to human beings but to evil spirits, it is a powerful force. Understanding this distinction is crucial in realizing why praying in tongues has the power to drive out evil spirits.
Here, I will delve into the power of the Holy Spirit and praying in tongues, shedding light on how the gift can effectively combat evil spirits. The purpose of this article is to inspire and encourage you to continue praying in tongues, even when you doubt its effectiveness.
Once you grasp the true power behind it, you will find renewed motivation to engage in this spiritual practice consistently.
Spirits fight spirits
The first thing you need to understand is that only spirits can combat other spirits. Specifically, it is the Holy Spirit who possesses the authority to confront evil spirits, as both the Holy Spirit and evil spirits are spirits themselves.
As human beings, we are bound by physical bodies and lack the ability to engage in battles with spirits. Spirits hold greater strength than physical creatures, which is why your own spirit can overpower your body, but not vice versa.
This understanding stems from the fact that when God created the world, He established certain rules for His creation to abide by. One of these rules dictates that interactions should occur between beings of the same descent.
Angels typically interact with angels, human beings with humans, and spirits with spirits. The only exception is when God permits communion between a physical body and a spirit. This principle also applies to spiritual warfare, as we cannot combat evil spirits using our physical bodies.
If we were to attempt fighting the enemy, the evil spirits would easily overpower us. Therefore, God has put in us a spirit, which possesses strength, but we still require the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit, being experienced and knowledgeable in the spiritual realm, assists our own spirits in battling against evil spirits. Ultimately, it is spirits that engage in the fight against other spirits.
Spiritual territories
The second thing you need to note is that the spiritual realm operates in a different manner than the physical realm. It is not a structured environment where specific territories are assigned to individuals or entities.
Instead, it is a free-for-all kind of place, where one’s ability to acquire and defend determines their access and influence. You may have heard about territorial spirits, and it is true that every spirit, including the Holy Spirit, is territorial.
In fact, the Holy Spirit chooses to dwell within our bodies, making them His territory. This is why the Bible refers to our bodies as the Temple of the Holy Spirit and emphasizes the need to keep them pure.
It is also important to know that in the spiritual realm, things are constantly shifting. If you have established a territory through prayer and created an open pathway to heaven, evil spirits will attempt to seize control of that territory.
They do not want you or anyone else to access heaven through your pathway. Consequently, they will try to trespass and block your territory, leading to spiritual warfare.
Therefore, it becomes a continuous battle to defend the territory you have established against the destructive intentions of evil spirits.
Normally, when we pray, we experience a sense of peace. This peace, felt both in the physical and spiritual realms, is essentially a sacred space.
When one prays fervently, their prayers ascend to heaven, pleasing God. In response, angels are dispatched to protect and safeguard this sacred space, preventing any evil spirits from causing harm.
This divine intervention brings about the peace that is felt. However, it is important to note that even in the midst of this peace, the enemy will attempt to infiltrate and defile this sacred territory, aiming to strip away the peace that has been granted to you.
Jesus also mentioned about this in the bible where He said that it is impossible to enter the house of a strong man unless you bind him first.
When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
Luke 11: 21-22
The Bible verse explains the nature of the spiritual realm. It emphasizes the need for believers to be stronger than the evil forces in order to overcome them.
At times, when a believer becomes weak, more powerful demons may take control of that territory. However, through prayer and spiritual strength, believers can regain control, drive out evil spirits, and reclaim their territory.
Establishing of laws
The third concept to understand is that in the spiritual realm, the words we speak hold power as both law and sword. When we speak, our words act as a law that goes forth with authority.
Anything we declare becomes a law, and those who do not adhere to it face the consequences, as our words transform into a sword that punishes those who disobey.
Proverbs 18:21 highlights the significance of words, stating that the power of life and death lies in the tongue. Therefore, when praying in tongues, we establish spiritual laws. The more we pray in tongues, the more laws we establish, many of which are spiritual in nature.
While these laws may not always be evident in the physical realm, they hold great importance in the spiritual realm, governing how spirits operate within the territory we have acquired.
These laws often revolve around principles of purity, holiness, peace, and goodness, setting boundaries against evil spirits seeking to infiltrate and bring negativity into our lives. By praying, we express our rejection of such evil and invite God’s angels to enforce the laws we have set.
That is how evil entities are able to discern the distinction between believers and the level of power they possess. This differentiation is determined by the intensity of light emanating from them and the presence of fire surrounding them.
Those who engage in fervent prayer possess a greater circumference of protective fire, making it impossible for demons to approach.
On the other hand, individuals who pray casually have a smaller circumference of fire, offering less protection, and some may even lack the illuminating light altogether. As a result, these believers become vulnerable to demonic influence.
However, by diligently maintaining the fire, as instructed in the book of Leviticus, one can ensure complete protection throughout their life.
The fire on the altar shall be kept burning; it must not be extinguished.
Leviticus 6:13
The effects of these spiritual battles and victories manifest in the physical realm, resulting in a profound sense of peace, and overall success in life.
The Holy Spirit assumes responsibility for these mysteries in the spiritual realm, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful physical existence. Peace!
