Every time we go to sleep, we put ourselves in a vulnerable situation. The enemy knows that when a human being is asleep, there is a chance for him to attack. There is a lot that can happen when someone is asleep or unconscious.
Of course, being asleep is partially being unconscious, but the Lord understands that as human beings, we need rest every day. Because of that, there has to be some form of protection that He provides for us when we are asleep.
Praying in tongues is a divine provision from God to ensure our protection and safety while we are asleep. There is a spiritual mechanism behind this practice that safeguards us in various ways.
In this article, I will delve into the explanation of how praying in tongues keeps us safe during our slumber. Additionally, I will address the reasons why believers may experience attacks in their dreams despite praying in tongues.
I would like to share an experience I had some time ago. One night, I went to sleep as usual, but I had a nightmare that really terrified me. In the dream, I found myself tied to a tree, like a prisoner. I was unconscious at first, but then I became aware of my situation and panicked, trying to free myself. It was still dark, but I could see a creature in the distance.
This dark hideous creature was bent down, sorting what seemed like black magic tools which were scattered on the ground. When I began to fumble in an attempt to free myself, the creature turned to me and began to charge at me.
I began praying in tongues aggressively and woke up in the midst of my prayers. The intensity of my prayers was so strong that I physically jumped out of bed, overwhelmed by the terror I had experienced in that moment.
The fear and shock from the dream made me pray in tongues for an hour to seek inner peace. Once I felt a sense of calm, I ceased praying in tongues, turned on the lights and started my day.
Upon reflecting on the experience, I realized that praying in tongues is actually a spiritual protection that empowers our spirits to resist demonic attacks in our sleep.
When I had the nightmare, I was completely powerless because I was already tied up, which showed that the evil spirit in the form a dark creature had subdued me. However, as the evil spirit was coming to attack me, I started praying in tongues.
There are times when people have dreams and they can’t speak, which is a sign that their spirit is weak. Praying in tongues will strengthen your spirit and give you the ability to fight back and resist the attacks of the evil one in your dreams.
So, if an evil spirit is coming at you, you can call on the name of Jesus or speak in tongues to repel it and protect yourself. This is one way in which praying in tongues keeps us protected when we are asleep.
Covenant
Another way in which praying in Tongues keeps us safe is when the Holy Spirit seizes the opportunity to bind us to God’s protection through a covenant. It is crucial to understand that God’s protection is conditional.
While God generally shields us from the powers of darkness, the condition is that we must be human. As human beings, we have default protection from God against evil powers which seek to destroy us.
However, there are additional levels of protection that are dependent on our relationship with God. In the Book of Psalms, the psalmist mentions that God will protect those who love Him.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.”
Psalms 91:14
Therefore, people who love God receive more protection than casual believers or those who do not put their trust in God.
When God protects those who love and bear His name, it is not only for their sake, but also for the sake of His own name and reputation. Praying in tongues creates a covenant between God and those who bear His name through the power of the Holy Spirit.
This results in God’s protection, whether you asked for it or not, simply because His name is upon you.
This was evident in the case of King Solomon, who, despite his own shortcomings, was protected due to the covenant God had with his father David, a man after God’s own heart.
A light spirit
The third way in which praying in tongues protects us while we sleep is by making our spirit light. Have you ever experienced a dream where you were flying away from danger?
I recall a recent dream where I was walking along a road and a car suddenly stopped right in front of me. When the windows rolled down, I saw someone inside whom I felt was evil and didn’t want to meet. I was so scared that I couldn’t move, but then I started floating away as if I was being carried by the wind.
It was like the Holy Spirit’s power guiding me away from that place of danger. Sometimes in dreams, we face terrifying situations where we feel powerless to escape or fight back. In those moments, the Holy Spirit intervenes and carries us to safety.
People who have fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit are the ones who experience this phenomenon. By allowing the Holy Spirit to lead them, particularly through praying in tongues, they establish a deeper connection with God.
On the other hand, those living in sin may find themselves trapped during such attacks without a way out. This is because, they are weighed down by burdens that the Holy Spirit has not yet removed due to their resistance.
If you speak in tongues but continue to have nightmares, it is important to delve deeper into your spiritual life and surrender more to the Holy Spirit. The level of protection the Holy Spirit provides is directly related to how much you allow Him to work in your life.
The more you pray in tongues, the more authority you give the Holy Spirit to safeguard you while you sleep and shield you from demonic attacks in your sleep.
It is crucial to remember that as believers, we are in a constant spiritual battle. Even those who have accepted Christ may still face attacks from the enemy. However, when these attacks occur, the Holy Spirit is there to defend and protect us.
Personally, I have encountered numerous nightmares despite praying in tongues regularly. Yet, in these dreams, I always emerge victorious. I hope you find this helpful in understanding the power of praying in tongues to combat attacks in dreams. Blessings!
