1. Praying in Tongues Tackles unknown dangers
Let me start by highlighting a very important scripture: Luke 22:31-32. The Bible says…
And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
What do you understand from this scripture?
Well, there is a powerful spiritual realization in this portion of scripture.
You see, Satan has the habit of accusing believers before God. Every now and then, Satan accuses human beings before God of sinning. Then he asks for permission to go and attack human beings.
I’m sure the story of Job must be on your mind right now. That is a perfect example of how Satan does his accusing business.
In the verse we read, the devil had asked for permission to attack Peter. Peter himself had no idea that the devil had asked for him.
However, Jesus, being sharp in the spirit, knew the devil had asked to attack Peter. As a result, He interceded for Peter.
This is also why Jesus added the phrase, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” in the Lord’s prayer. We are required to constantly ask the Lord to deny the devil the chance to attack us when he asks for permission to attack us.
Unfortunately, many believers never pay attention to this crucial command. As a result, the enemy continuously gets permission to attack them.
That is where the Holy Spirit comes in. You see, while Jesus was with His disciples on earth, He protected them. In the case of Peter, Jesus took it upon Himself to pray for Peter’s protection.
But as we know, and as Jesus told us, He went back to the Father, but He did not leave us as orphans. Instead, He sent the Holy Spirit to continue leading us and protecting us just as Jesus had done.
The Holy Spirit ensures we are protected by leading us to pray to the Father to stop requests of the devil to attack us. He accomplishes this by giving us utterance when we pray in the Spirit.
Because the Holy Spirit is aware whenever the devil seeks to attack us, He is in a good position to intercede for us.
If we are obedient to the Holy Spirit to pray as He leads us, we remain protected in the spiritual realm. If we refuse to pray in the spirit, we leave ourselves exposed to many unknown dangers in the spiritual realm.
2. Praying in Tongues Gives charge to angels
To explain this point well, let me start by sharing a very interesting scripture from the Old Testament. The verse is from the book of Isaiah 37:35-36. The Bible says…
‘For I will defend this city, to save it For My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’ ”Then the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.
What comes to your mind when you read this scripture?
If you are amazed at what the angel of the Lord did, you are not far from the point.
Here is the thing: angels are God’s servants. They make up the army of the Lord. When the Lord wants to execute judgment, He sends angels.
In the verse we’ve read, the Lord sent an angel to kill the Assyrian soldiers because they had mocked Him.
Now, a very important point to remember is that angels only respond to the voice of God because He is their master.
This means that when we need angels to protect us, we have to ask the Lord to command them to protect us. But that bureaucracy can be hectic.
To shorten the process, the Lord gave us the Holy Spirit, whom we know is the Spirit of God. This means that, when we pray in the spirit, we speak from the position of God.
As a result, we can directly command angels, and they will listen to us.
Whenever you pray in tongues, and you need protection in the spiritual realm, the Holy Spirit uses you to command angels to defend you, and they listen because you speak with the authority of God given to you by the Holy Spirit.
Beautiful! Isn’t it?
3. Praying in Tongues Conceals crucial information
Let’s read a very familiar scripture about praying in tongues: 1 Corinthians 14:2. The Bible says…
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
One common way in which believers expose themselves in the spiritual realm is by revealing crucial information to the enemy. Many of them do not even realize that they are giving out crucial information to the enemy.
Here is how it happens…
When a believer prays in understanding, they speak a language that other human beings can understand. If the people around the believer are faithless, the devil uses them to cast down the faith of the praying believer.
As a result, the praying believer gets discouraged and loses faith. Because he has lost his faith, his prayer gets no answer.
In other cases, when the prayer of the believer falls on evil ears, they report the prayer in the kingdom of darkness. Then they start scheming on how to frustrate and stop the believer from praying.
Because the information they have is detailed, it helps them plan their evil schemes. The schemes they come up with are very effective because they have detailed information.
But when a believer prays in tongues, other people cannot understand what he is saying. As a result, it is difficult for other people to cast down the faith of the believer.
Also, the agents of the devil have no information to pass to the kingdom of darkness. In the end, the affairs of the believer and his God are protected in the realms of the spirit.
Conclusion
I hope this information has opened your eyes to the reality of praying in tongues in the spiritual realm. Do not look at the gift from a carnal perspective. It is a spiritual gift meant to affect matters in the spiritual realm.
God bless you!
