Praying in Tongues with Worship Music in the Background

What is your favorite worship song? Do you ever play it in the background while speaking in tongues?

Praying in tongues and worship are closely related. Both are methods of communing with God and have a lot in common.

When you tap into their power, you achieve great results. I’ll share with you how to turn praying in tongues into a powerful resource using worship music.

The Origin of Worship and Speaking in Tongues

Worship was introduced long before speaking in tongues. From the Bible, we know that worship existed from the day God created angels.

Angels were created to worship God among other duties. The story of Lucifer being thrown out of heaven has worship in the mix.

Some interpretations claim that Lucifer wanted to be worshipped just as God is worshipped and for that reason He was thrown out of heaven. The interpretations continue claiming that man was created to fill the gap that Lucifer left.

Other interpretations say God created man in His image and likeness and asked all angels to honor him but Lucifer refused. Because of his refusal, God took away the duty of Lucifer and gave it to man.

Whatever you think about those interpretations, the truth is that worship is at the center of the creation story.

To this day, we are required to worship God and the devil does his best to deceive us to worship him.

This battle is clear in the music industry; for every worship song, there is a secular song. For every song that glorifies God, there is a song that glorifies the world which is under the rule of the devil.

Speaking in tongues came into the picture on the day of Pentecost when the disciples of Jesus received the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is still at work today and we speak in tongues by His power.

The Union of Worship and Speaking in Tongues

Worship and speaking in tongues flow together naturally. It is so easy to speak in tongues while you are in worship and other times the Holy Spirit leads you to worship when you are speaking in tongues.

This union is so powerful because it gives us an option of approaching God’s throne. Let me explain…

There is distance between us and God. This distance is a result of our sin. As you know, God hates sin and according to His law, the wages of sin is death.

For this reason, God avoids getting close to us when we are in sin so that He won’t be forced to put us to death.

Prophet Isaiah tells us in Isaiah 59 that the hand of the Lord is not too short to save neither is His ear too dull to hear but that it is our iniquity that separates us from Him.

When you embark on praying or worship, you have to close down the distance between you and God. Usually, the more you pray and worship, the more the Holy Spirit cleans you from your defilements and the closer you can get to God without disastrous consequences.

The challenge that we face is that some people prefer worship over speaking in tongues while others prefer speaking in tongues over worship.

The union between worship and speaking in tongues means that you can use any of the two to close down the gap between yourself and God.

Singing songs of the blood of Jesus will clean you the same way praying to God to clean you works.

The Perfect Worship and Speaking in Tongues Mix

By far the best way to use the power of worship and speaking in tongues is to play worship songs in the background while you speak in tongues.

Using this strategy has two main advantages:

One, you will have an easy time staying focused. Two, you will breakthrough easily.

When you play worship songs in the background while speaking in tongues, the worship songs keep your mind occupied.

We know from the Bible that our minds are usually idle when we are speaking in tongues. But our minds are not designed to stay idle. What happens?

They wander!

They go from one random idea to another. As a result, the devil gets a chance to suggest nasty ideas to us and distract us from focusing on prayer.

But when worship music is playing in the background, all you have to do is fix your mind on the music. This is easy if the worship song you are playing is familiar to you.

Our minds naturally get hooked to songs we love.

Breakthrough when you are speaking in tongues comes down to staying focused. If you can focus your mind on praying in tongues long enough, you will breakthrough.

Worship music makes it easy to focus which automatically guarantees you breakthrough.
