Speaking in Tongues should be Fun!

To some believers, speaking in tongues is a tiring task, packed with a great deal of struggle. To them, there is nothing enjoyable about it. They do not understand this spiritual act and are yet to experience the true power of speaking in tongues.

Speaking in tongues should not be seen as a duty. On the contrary, it is designed to be a source of peace and joy.

Knowing our weariness as human beings, God cannot give us a gift that we do not find delight in. For this reason, God made the gift of speaking in tongues very satisfying to encourage us to make the most out of it.

I once belonged to a certain fellowship that highly valued prayer and more specifically speaking in tongues. After a while, I noticed the absence of a few members and being one of the leaders, I sought to follow up with them.

Upon inquiring, they admitted to ditching the fellowship claiming that they found the prayers to be too much yet their lives did not yield the fruits of praying in tongues. In short, they got bored.

It was at this point when I began to wonder whether it’s possible for every believer to enjoy the act of speaking in tongues.

When a believer starts speaking in tongues, they are unsure about the foreign language and may experience a hard time connecting to the heavenly realm.

They feel discouraged and even physically exhausted. However, with persistence, they are able to overcome this stage and eventually begin to enjoy the gift of speaking in tongues while manifesting its power.

There are several ways that God makes the gift of speaking in tongues more interesting and that will be the main focus of this article.

Seeing of visions

When a believer receives the gift of speaking in tongues, it becomes easy for them to see visions and have heavenly encounters during communion with God.

This strengthens the faith of the believer, making them look forward to these extraordinary experiences that reveal God’s message to them.

Peace that surpasses human understanding

And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

When we cast our anxieties to God through praying in tongues, we get a sense of peace.

Our burdens are lifted and we experience a perfect peace that motivates us to keep exercising the gift of speaking in tongues. The more one is consistent, the greater the peace becomes.

Boldness from the Holy Spirit

When we speak in tongues, the Holy Spirit gives us unusual boldness. If you have noticed, when you start to speak in tongues in a low tone, the louder you get as you go along.

On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were hiding in the upper room, fearing that the Roman and Jewish leaders might come to persecute them.

When the Holy Spirit came upon them, they suddenly became bold and spoke in tongues so loud that the people outside could clearly hear them. Soon after that, they made their way outside where they fearlessly preached the gospel.

This is the same boldness that comes overs us when we pray in tongues. It is such an intoxicating feeling that may make a person appear drunk. The boldness creates a power-filled atmosphere that prompts believers to make powerful declarations as they boast of being the children of the almighty God.

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the spirit.

Ephesians 5:18

The thrill of this boldness fuels a believer to speak in tongues longer and frequently.

Those are among the motivators that help us enjoy the gift of speaking in tongues. If you are struggling while speaking in tongues, do not be discouraged. With time, it will surely become a sweet affair. Blessings!
