Praying in Tongues: How Contending in the Spiritual Realm Works

It is common for believers to actively engage in praying in tongues, while in pursuit of a breakthrough. Often times, the tongues are accompanied by very strong faith. The Holy Spirit elevates your faith, in preparation of the fulfillment of your desires.

Overcoming despair

When you start praying about a specific matter, you will most likely experience a high level of motivation. Some believers even choose to fast in addition to praying, which further intensifies their zeal.

However, shortly after initiating the fast, usually within a day or two, that initial surge of motivation and drive tends to diminish. This sudden decline often leads people to question the effectiveness of their actions, including the tongues they speak during prayer.

It is at this stage that believers must persevere and contend for what rightfully belongs to them.

In the spiritual realm, it is important to understand that everything one receives must be earned. Initially, the faith you possess is what will elevate you into the spiritual realm where you can strive for your desires.

Once you have entered that realm where your breakthrough is expected, you must now fight for it through continuous prayers.

The discouragement is a natural part of the process, so do not be disheartened when you reach this second level of praying in tongues while trusting God for a breakthrough.

Answered prayers

After this stage, you now reach the most delightful part where, God answers your prayer requests after you have successfully contended in the spirit.

As God grants you the breakthrough, you will experience immense joy, peace, and a sense of perfection. Every moment spent praying in tongues and putting your trust in God will feel truly rewarding. This is indeed the most gratifying phase of praying and trusting God for a breakthrough.

Holding onto faith

However, when God answers your prayers, He often does not provide the entire request at once. Instead, He starts by giving you a promise or a glimpse of what you are seeking. The reason behind this is to strengthen your faith and make you trust in Him.

If God were to grant you all your requests immediately after contending for them, you might be tempted to focus more on the gifts rather than on God Himself, the ultimate giver.

To prevent this, God often answers prayers gradually, requiring you to maintain your faith and intensity in prayer even after receiving the initial blessings. This is a test of your commitment and trust in Him.

There are believers who pray and receive a promise from God, and suddenly the intensity of their prayers goes down and sometimes ceasing the prayers all together. Following this, they start to wonder why they have not seen the fulfillment of God’s promise and why it is taking too long to materialize.

It is important to note that God is testing your faith at this point. He wants to see if you can maintain a strong level of faith because God is pleased with our faith, as stated in the bible.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Therefore, you must continue to hold onto your faith until God delivers every aspect of the gift and breakthrough that you are trusting Him for. Once you receive these blessings, you will still need to maintain the same level of faith in order to fully enjoy them.

This is particularly relevant for those who pray in tongues but struggle to experience breakthroughs or have their promises fulfilled. Blessings!
