Spiritual freedom is the highest form of freedom and it only comes when you speak in tongues. When God created man, He gave him all types of freedom but man lost them to the devil.
Ever since that time, man has been working with God to regain his lost freedom. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are tools that God has given man to use to regain his freedom.
The Bible tells us in John 8:36 that if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Jesus came to set us free. He laid the foundation of our freedom and asked us to build upon it.
Apostle Paul tells us in 1st Corinthians 3:11 that there is no other foundation that can be laid other than the one which has already been laid which is Jesus Christ.
After Jesus laid the foundation for our freedom, He went back to the Father and requested Him to send us a helper. The Father sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper.
When it comes to achieving spiritual freedom, we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Praying in tongues is the perfect way to pray given that it is the Holy Spirit guiding us to pray.
If you make praying in tongues a daily practice, you will attain and sustain spiritual freedom.
How Praying in Tongues earns you Total Freedom
1. Praying in Tongues gives you Knowledge
Losing our spiritual freedom began with the deception of the serpent. After the serpent deceived Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, the devil enslaved us through sin.
God knew that we needed knowledge for us to be set free from spiritual slavery. The serpent had more knowledge than Eve and that advantage made it possible for the serpent to prevail in deceiving Eve.
To this day, deception only happens if the person deceiving has more knowledge than the person being deceived.
God in His wisdom created the gift of knowledge and gave it to us through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has more knowledge than the devil; if we rely on His knowledge, the devil can’t deceive us.
When you speak in tongues, the Holy Spirit automatically helps you grow in knowledge. Knowledge is a gift of the Holy Spirit just like speaking in tongues.
The more knowledge you have, the greater your spiritual freedom will be.
Therefore, invest as much time as you can in speaking in tongues. Before you know it, you will have grown in knowledge to a level where the devil can’t deceive you and being an impossible person to deceive will give you the ultimate freedom.
2. Speaking in Tongues casts out Evil Spirits
Evil spirits capitalize on our ignorance for them to enslave us. An ignorant man will do countless trips to the hospital desperately trying to cure an illness caused by an evil spirit.
No matter how hard doctors try to treat such a condition, it won’t go away.
The Bible tells us of an interesting story in Luke 13:10-13: On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
It is clear that the woman in this scripture was ailing because of a spiritual attack. In simple terms, she was suffering from spiritual slavery.
Jesus knew it and by casting out the evil spirit, the woman was healed instantly. Jesus was so precise that He told her she was set free from her infirmity.
Spiritual freedom comes after evil spirits have been driven off from your life. Jesus had knowledge and He used that knowledge to drive out the evil spirit which gave the woman freedom.
Right now, it is obvious that Jesus went back to the Father. We could have easily gone to Him to set us free the way He set that woman free if He was still living among us physically.
Thank God because we can still get spiritual freedom through praying in tongues. The Holy Spirit took over the ministry of Jesus and He runs it to this day.
When you speak in tongues, the Holy Spirit kindles a fire within you that makes it uncomfortable for evil spirits to stay.
Some evil spirits may endure for a while but eventually the spiritual environment within you will become too hot for them to stay. At that point, they will leave on their own and you will get your freedom.
This is why it is advisable to speak in tongues consistently. The more you speak in tongues, the more unbearable it becomes for evil spirits enslaving you.
If you were a slave to a demon causing an infirmity, when the fire within you becomes too hot the demon will leave. Physically, the sickness you had will vanish all of a sudden.
3. Speaking in Tongues Purifies you
Spiritual freedom is not complete unless you can access God without fear. In the Garden of Eden, man confidently communed with God. But after the fall, man became afraid of God.
The icing on the spiritual freedom cake is having access to God without fear. The Bible urges us in Hebrews 4:16 saying: Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
The fear of approaching God that we experience comes from our impure nature. It is very clear that anything that is defiled cannot access the presence of God.
But since God wants communion with us, He provided purification for us through the blood of Jesus. After Jesus shed His blood on the cross, the Holy Spirit came to teach us how to live pure lives.
It would have been pointless if Jesus purified us in His blood and we were left on our own; we would have defiled ourselves again.
When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit purifies us through the blood of Jesus. Since we keep defiling ourselves, the Holy Spirit constantly purifies us when we speak in tongues and it enables us approach the throne of God.
If you soak deep in tongues, you will feel very pure. I shared in a previous article that if you soak deep in tongues, your desire to talk to people will fade away. One of the reasons I gave was because you feel so pure and you are afraid talking to people will defile you.
In that state of purity, you have the freedom to get very close to the throne of God. And of course when you are very close to God, you will have the opportunity to ask for anything and it will be given to you.
Therefore, treasure the gift of speaking in tongues. It is a powerful gift meant to set us totally free.
